Saturday in the garden

So many jobs! Some of them got done today.

There was a bit of feeding and weeding today. Stretching around the old clothes line pole to weed a couple of apple trees before they got a dose of blood and bone. The big one has borer and those grubs are on the list for the next day's work. That'll be next week.

In the same corner of the yard, Mish spraying something called drought shield onto three little transplanted camellia. It reduces water loss. Feijoa on the left, apple on the right.

Along the northern fence we have a two plum trees, a lemon, and a couple of bigger transplanted camellia. They all got a sprinkle of blood and bone. Forking it in.

We inherited a half completed veggie box and decided to dismantle that and use the soil to fill another one. Here goes the soil.

Over to where where I've connected two planter boxes to strengthen them and make a long one.

Here's the new section between two existing veggie boxes, with a willow tower ready for peas.

Tidied up the resource area after the little shed came out of there.  So nice to get some order from a dumping ground of sticks and bricks and useful things. Old concrete sink ready for spud planting.

And in other uses of spuds, bird scarer! We saw this in Anne Hathaway's garden in Stratford-on-Avon. It should turn when the wind catches it (it doesn't). I have big seagull feathers but I need a smaller and lighter potato and a better rod so it can freely spin. I doubt the blackbirds will care, but am fiddling with it anyway.

Mish moving a couple of rosemary plants to a sunnier spot with the berries.

It was also busy on our adjoining park today. Kids rugby league and adult soccer going on. This is the view over our fence. Kapiti Island on the left.
