Christmas 2019

We were in NSW for Christmas and the new year. Pretty hot (got to 44 one disgusting day), and spent a lot of time in the air con and in the pool. (And the day we flew out it got to 45.8C there!)

Bushfire sun through the spikes of the xanthorrhoea near the pool. Eerie light and smokey air from fires around Sydney.

Drove down to Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy Mountains on Christmas day (Mish, Carol, Jase, and Davy) and spent the night at the lake with Mischa's merry cousin Jane and her kids and partners and friends. Had a lovely swim in the lake, not cold at all, and a jolly jaunt into hydro works on the lake (Jane ignoring 'authorised entry only' signs), and then a platypus spotting expedition. Saw one!

Lake Eucumbene way down at 30% of storage capacity.

Boxing Day - on to Perisher Valley in the national park and Jason's ski lodge for four nights.
Final pieces going in on the Hieronymus Bosch jigsaw; a team effort by these three who at this stage are quite pleased with themselves.

Did a couple of walks, including a lovely stroll around Rainbow Lake.

Dave and Mish before we did a circuit around the lake.

Another swim in trendy bikini (aka underwear).

Took a day trip to Thredbo and a 10 minute ride up the chairlift for a lark.

Smokey view across the Snowy River to the Blue Lake track, from the Main Range track.

Snow gums and candle heath.

The whole drive from Sydney to the mountains and all the landscape was hot and brown. Very dry on the ground and smoke in the air from huge bushfires raging up and down the country.
