Looking at the South Island

From the living room on a clear winter day.

Morning sun on Mt Tapuae-o-Uenuku in the coastal Kaikoura range down the eastern side of the South Island. Tapu is about 120km away, across Cook Strait. From sea level at the airport you can see other white peaks in the Kaikouras; we love our glimpse of the range from up here in the light house.
