Weekend walk to Makara and West Wind

Saturday, a perfect day for the world waterski championships on Wellington Harbour (Sunday's whitecaps not so perfect).

We went over to Makara (west coast of Wellington) and did a short walk past the wind turbines to the WW11 bunkers overlooking Cook Strait. It was more about the picnic on the edge really than about the walk. Glorious blue sea below and an outlook to the hazy South Island, and cups of tea with gingernut biscuits.

Looking north to Mana Island and Kapiti Island just off the coast

Picnic spot, flask about to appear...no sightings of whales but they are passing, heading north.

Saturday night we went into the city and found the night food market in Lower Cuba St. Score! Beautiful night, loads of food vans and funky music from two guys working at each end of the market. Mish proofread their huge banner before I did. Firday, for heaven's sake. My work will never be done.
