Plum season!

Saturday we had a lovely day over the hill in the Waiarapa. Strolled the small towns of Greytown and Featherston, in and out of cafes and clothing shops and shops jumbled with old wares. Then the plum orchard with the best plums and back over the hill with kilos of beautiful Black Doris (and some peacharines which are a very fruity combo of peaches and nectarines).

Also bought a couch.
Impulse buy.
A 1970s three seater with sexy arms that is 'tastefully' upholstered in a plummy velour (which will go, second stage, out with the swatches!). We both reckoned we were ready for a change so the King lounge set  goes onto Trade Me (ebay). I remember the day we picked that up from the King furniture factory in Sydney. It packed into Mischa's Outback so nicely - and they are big pieces - plus two people and a dog for the trip back to Robertson.

New couch coming Tuesday so it's going to be a wee bit crowded in here for a while.

Then, today -plum jam making.  Took most of the day, had to make two batches. It is dark and zingy, my favourite jam. A lovely warm and calm day, had the French doors open and Triple JJJ on the radio and ended up with:
