Walking up our local-Mt.Kaukau

We wanted to get some exercise last weekend and hopefully get some cracker views of snow clad southern alps from the top of our local mountain. Alas, it was not to be as we got misted out at the top. It was a lovely walk anyway and we got nature in abundance - even serenaded by a bold Tui, an iconic NZ native bird that has a vocal range to rival a 'maggie'. Carol had her double arm handicap and did pretty well. The latte from the cafe back down at the carpark was deeelicious.

On the way up - Wellington CBD and Cook Straight spread out below us.
Note the shoelaces matching Carol's casts!

A pine on the track that didn't survive the big blow of June 20
(wind speeds got to 201kph at the top that day)

Tower and mist at the top
