Tree felling

We have a long tree-lined driveway and it was a bit cramped in there. There's an avenue of 12 small phebalium, currently flowering, with a pretty white flower and a mix of silver birch and casurina. Next to them are the park trees.

We had a mid-sized pine squeezed between an oak and a lovely big pohutukawa at the top of the drive, so Mish decided the pine should go. It'll give the other two a better run and they'll spread into the space.

The neighbours are passing around a local tree guy, who is actually a teacher and does trees for fun. He dropped in on Wednesday morning to check out the job and dropped the tree in the afternoon. No mucking about.

That left us with a load of firewood and and a bunch of branches to mulch. We got stuck into the mulching next day and roared through it with the mighty mulcher in about four hours.

Most of the branches to mulch are out of shot here. Hard work!

We now have a fabulous pile of leaf and woodchip ready for summer. My little pine on the left there is probably freaking out watching the goings on in the driveway.

The site mapping goes on. There's lots of obstacles of all sorts indicating a ramp here, and rooms there and hallways etc.

There's an abundance of this:
