Paekakariki escarpment track to Pukerua Bay

A 10km walk from Paekakariki station at sea level up to 220mt (felt like waaay more) and across the cliff, then down to Pukerua station.

Did that on Sunday with sister Sue, while bro in law Phil ran it with a couple of pals, and then they carried around the coast for a bit. They did 27km; cause they could. It worked well with two cars for dropping a car at one end of the track and driving to the other end to start walking.

View north to Kapiti Island from the track, still going up.

Many steps. Beautifully made track though. It's part of the national walking trail Te Araroa from top to bottom of NZ.

Looking south to Pukerua Bay, and down to road and rail.

Took us three and a half hours, just like the sign said! Nice day for a walk, sunny and not too hot or breezy. Quite a few people doing the walk, all saying hello as you have to pass carefully, and most saying something about a rather puffed feeling. Sue far too fit for that carry on.
