Our little house is sold and we've bought a house in Raumati Beach, about 45 minutes north of Wellington.
Moving! But not til February 2021.
Buying and selling in Wellington is fraught at the moment. Too few houses for sale and too many people looking. We had several hundred people go through over two weeks and 20 offers which we opened in the real estate agent's office yesterday. One outstanding offer: cash, no conditions, Feb settlement date agreed to = sold to that young couple.
Mish has been looking up the line for months, years really. Being the buyer we've been outbid and hadn't found exactly what we wanted. Then a house fell into our laps and we have been super lucky to have all the stars aligned.
New house is timber, 1952, bit of work to do, big elevated block, kind of got a Robertson feel as it has vegetation surrounding the house. Plum tree! We will be able to grow things we haven't been able to do on the windy hill (finally got lemons after nine years here, but the plum and apple trees we planted have struggled).
Everything now with agent and conveyancer and we can relax and get our house back (i.e. out of zen presentation mode and back into living in it mode).
