Chicago, New York, Vancouver - September and October 2019

An autumn trip to the USA and Canada.

A couple of days in Chicago - 15 hour flight on the Air New Zealand sky couch wasn't sooooo bad. I guess. It was unexpectedly warm in the other windy city. Took a river cruise, and then out onto Lake Michigan,  admired the world's first skyscrapers, went to the Field Museum and saw Sue, took a train out to Oak Park and took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's house and strolled that leafy wealthy suburb in the rain, past Hemingway's house and squirrels.

Chicago shoreline from the Field Museum. Walked the waterfront, caught the bus back.Public transport really easy to figure out in Chicago.

Mish on tour.

On to New York, after we sorted out the lack of a ticket at O'Hare, ahem.

Spent eight nights next to the NY stock exchange in the canyons of the financial district and five nights in the upper west side next to Central Park. Walked the Hudson river path-nice-, the High Line, caught ferries and the subway (lots), into the Met, the Guggenheim, the 9/11 memorial, Madison Square Garden for an ice hockey game, up the One World tower for the view at dusk. Etc. And we walked and walked. Harlem, Dumbo, Central Park, cycled that too. Etc. Didn't do everything but we did heaps.

Sailing under Brooklyn Bridge

Jacinda in NY too.

View from our financial district apartment. One bit of green. Fearless girl underneath us.

Unexpectedly hot, we had to go and buy shorts. Two fuzzy girls on the Hudson River walkway.

Stopped by here a couple of times for breakfast.

New York - all noisy and big city busy.

On to Vancouver, which seemed normal after NY. More red and yellow autumnal colour than NY. Walked (of course) Stanley Park, the waterfront, the aquarium, took a bus and ferry over to Gibson's Landing. Walked. Found an actual supermarket, and of course the exchange rate was way better.

One of the many ferries in and around Vancouver. Snow nearby. Much cooler, out come the puffer jackets.

Could do with a wee holiday now.
